The Phil Lynott Bass is Back in Town!
Few images are as iconic as the legendary Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy, wielding his black P-Bass with its signature mirror pickguard. There are so many classic Thin Lizzy songs, and we are all huge fans of the band at The Music Zoo! Remember the amazing Gary Moore Tribute? Thus, we are super excited for the newly announced John Cruz-Masterbuilt Phil Lynott tribute Precision Bass! John Cruz has replicated every spec and cosmetic feature of the bass, to create a run of only 60 instruments worldwide.
Specs on the Masterbuilt Phil Lynott Precision Bass
Each bass is built with a two-piece select ash body with a nitrocellulose lacquer finish, the custom-made mirror pickguard and a hand-wound '78 P-Bass split coil pickup. The super-stable rift-sawn maple neck has a lacquered headstock face, with an oil finish to the back of the neck. The fretboard itself is a vintage-spec 7.25", with 20 jumbo frets for easy fleet fingered playing! The hardware includes a Badass II high mass bridge for extra punch and sustain, with Dunlop strap locks, vintage '70s style tuners, a bone nut, and a round-style string tree. Like many other special Masterbuilt artist guitars, this bass comes with a custom Anvil case, custom made leather strap and studded wristband - even mirrored Aviator sunglasses just like Phil.

The bass will only be produced to 60 pieces, each built by John Cruz. The Phil Lynott model is yet another notch on the belt of John Cruz's accomplishments as the Master Builder who can analyze a specific guitar and recreate it down to a T. One of the most famous John has ever replicated has to be the SRV Number One Tribute! The Jeff Beck Tribute Esquire is also up there in our books as well! One of the last big projects John took on, was last years unveiling of the Vaughn Brothers Stratocaster set, revealed at the 2018 NAMM show. After this Phil Lynott Bass, we can't wait to see what John will come up with next!
