Gretsch George Harrison Tribute Duo Jet
Posted on by ZooKeeper
One of the biggest reveals in the FMIC hall at NAMM 2011 has got to be the Gretsch Custom Shop George Harrison G6128T-GH Tribute Duo Jet. There will be 60 replicas made of this famous black Duo Jet, bought originally by Harrison from Manny’s Music in NYC (with an IOU) in 1960 and believed to be played on the Beatles’ debut album. Harrison is pictured with the guitar on the cover of his 1987 album Cloud Nine.
Spearheaded by project manager Stephen Stern, who has personally built some of the finest Gretsch guitars ever made, every detail of Harrison’s original black Gretsch was painstakingly measured, recorded, and reproduced. The original Jet was even x-rayed for total accuracy. We haven’t seen such a faithful reproduction of such an iconic guitar from Gretsch before – this should get the collector’s tongues wagging.
