NAMM2015:  Shortly after landing on Tuesday, a few members of The Music Zoo crew headed over Sound Studios in Southern California to catch the Metal Allegiance rehearsal for the NAMM 2015 kickoff event at House of Blues in Anaheim. As the all-star lineup of some of the biggest names in metal started filing into the studio with their  gear, we could tell right off the bat that this crew of talented musicians was truly a  brotherhood as they greeted each other with hugs, laughter, and even homemade cupcakes!

We soaked in the entire 2 hour practice session that included some off-cue vocal performances (and Paul Stanley/Gene Simmons imitations)  from the likes of Frank Bello (Anthrax) and Troy Sanders (Mastodon). As the rehearsal marched on, Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Chris Broderick (ex-Megadeth), Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Rex Brown (Pantera) and Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) among others busted out their incredible talents on their Jackson and ESP guitars to the tune of some of the greatest hard rock and metal songs of all time. The highlight for the rehearsal included a stellar rundown of the KISS classic “I Love It Loud”, with Troy Sanders (Mastodon) nailing both Gene’s persona and voice…little did we know how it would all play out at the show on Wednesday night at the House of Blues.

Stay tuned to our blog for our entire show review in Part 2 of the Metal Allegiance recap from the House of Blues in Anaheim!
