The 400 Series is a mid-point in the lineup from Taylor guitars and was introduced in the 1990s. Having guitars constructed with East Indian rosewood and ovangkol wood sets, there is a wide variety of options within the series. Grand Concert, Grand Auditorium, Grand Symphony, and Grand Orchestra body shapes can be found within the 400 series in a number of different formats. Each model comes with a solid Sitka spruce soundboard. Limited Edition 400 series Taylor guitar not only include different wood sets, like Granadillo and Blackwood, but special models like a 410e Baritone.

Guitars built with the classic rosewood and spruce combo offer a full low end response with added high frequency response, while the ovangkol and spruce combination emphasizes the midrange, which gives you added options within the 400 series of Taylor acoustic guitars. The flagship Grand Auditorium shape of the Taylor line is offered with both wood sets, the 414ce for ovangkol and the 414ce-R with rosewood. Refined aesthetics give a classy look to these instruments. Bound in white plastic with a tortoise guards, the Renaissance fretboard inlay sets apart the guitars with rosewood back and sides.
