Randy Rhoads At The Music Zoo

The Jackson "Rhoads" electric guitar backstops an important era in the history of metal guitars. The Music Zoo is proud to keep plenty of Rhoads guitars in stock at all times, from the affordable Minion and Pro Series models, all the way up to our special RR 1.5 Jackson Custom Shop creation, (when we can keep them in stock!) and well as a variety of used examples. These Flying V inspired riff machines are a great choice for the budding shred superstar or the pro riffmeister alike!

The Rhoads electric guitar came to fruition in late 1980, when Randy Rhoads approached Grover Jackson and asked him to build a signature guitar. The original designed was sketched out on a napkin around Christmas of that year. It was an "offset V" style guitar, with a white finish and neck-through construction, and would be the first guitar to bear the Jackson name on the headstock. The guitar featured a maple body and neck, ebony fingerboard with block inlays, "Strat" style tremolo, and Seymour Duncan pickups. The second prototype guitar that originally became the RR1 would bear an extended horn, unique sharkfin inlays, gold hardware, and a fixed "V" tailpiece.

Of course to the dismay of all, Randy passed away in a plane crash in 1982, and never really got to see the RR1 catch on. But the guitar put Jackson on the map and is a model still offered to this day, with several newer variants.
