First Editions Main

We’re always intrigued when Taylor has something new in the works. So we’re definitely excited that Taylor has announced their new 600 series First Editions for 2015. This collection of guitars is a product of Taylor’s efforts to enhance the bright tonal qualities of Maple tonewoods, giving them a richer and fuller sound than ever before. The Grand Orchestra and Grand Symphony models boast these sonic improvements with excellence. The combination of Sitka Spruce Tops with maple-specific back bracing profile bring not only a pleasing tone, but a greater level of responsiveness to the instrument. These outstanding guitar pieces are set to release in early January of 2015. If you are interested in pre-ordering, feel free to contact our sales staff. Also, make sure you check out our full stock of Taylor guitars on our site! Read on for more info and specifics on this new series from Taylor.

Among the upgrades to the 600s are a maple-specific back bracing profile and torrefied Sitka spruce tops, which together produce a played-in tonal character with greater acoustic resonance. Other tone-enhancing touches include the use of protein glues and an ultra-thin, 3.5-mil gloss finish to minimize dampening. A new, hand-rubbed “Brown Sugar” stain on the back and sides gives maple’s figure a beautiful violin-hued appearance without adding extra thickness to the finish. Featured appointments include new ivoroid Wings fretboard inlays, an inlaid ebony backstrap, ebony binding with ivoroid purfling, an ebony/ivoroid rosette, and a striped ebony pickguard, along with Taylor’s Expression System® 2 acoustic electronics. Exclusive First Edition features include Adirondack spruce braces, an additional headstock inlay, a First Edition guitar label, and a commemorative First Edition nameplate on the deluxe hardshell case.
