ebay_giving_works_logoBack in November 2014, The Music Zoo held an exclusive event for David Ellefson’s (Megadeth) 50th birthday celebration. This special engagement which was held at our Roslyn location featured an autograph signing/meet and greet, as well as a smoking set of Megadeth classics performed by Ellefson and former Megadeth/Nevermore guitarist Chris Broderick. During the event, we were lucky enough to have some special guests who joined in on the celebration of Dave’s 50th birthday. We must admit, we were a little starstruck when the likes of Alex Skolnick (Testament) and Frank Bello (Anthrax) showed up! This allowed The Music Zoo the perfect opportunity to get one of Dave’s signature Jackson basses signed by Dave’s talented group of friends. After little thought, The Music Zoo decided to part with the bass to a dedicated fan – but we did not want to simply give it away.

In comes Ebay Giving Works, which makes it easy for people to support important causes, both in the U.S. and abroad. Ebay’s Giving Works program enabled The Music Zoo to donate the entire portion of the auction sale to one of our favorite charities – St Judes Childrens Hospital.

We are pleased to recognize the winning bidder, Joe Jarusinsky, whose generosity really came through during the auction. After winning the auction, Joe left us with the following message:

“Being a HUGE Megadeth/David Ellefson fan, as well as a Chris Broderick/ex-Megadeth, Alex Skolnick/Testament and Frank Bello/Anthrax fan, a guitarist/bassist, and collector, this was right up my alley. When I saw that The Music Zoo was donating 100% of the proceeds to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, I was even more interested! I wanted the Bass, but more importantly, I wanted to help others at the same time. Very cool… now I have 3 guitars/basses signed by Dave Ellefson, and want to thank him, Chris, Alex & Frank, as well  The Music Zoo for making this happen! Very generous of them. The Ellefson Jackson Signature Bass is now a one-of-a-kind addition to my 40+ guitar collection and will always be treasured. Rock on!!”

In return, David had the following to say about the auction and winning bidder:

“Joe’s generosity does not go unrecognized, I would like to personally thank him for bidding on this exclusive bass and hope he enjoys having it a part of his collection. Thanks again Joe, you rock!” – David Ellefson

The Music Zoo would also like to thank Joe, and all the bidders who made an effort to secure a piece of metal history! You can view our selection of David Ellefson Signature Jackson Bass guitars here.
