NAMM 2010: Abigail Ybarra Winds Some Up
Posted on by ZooKeeper
Since 1956, Abigail Ybarra has made some of the best and most sought after Fender pickups available. She has made custom pickups for guys like Eric Clapton, and still winds pickups for production guitars as well. Fender brought her out to the NAMM show this year and she did a live winding of a pickup in front of a crush of cameras and reporters. It was cool seeing her in action working that winding machine. What makes her winds so special? Who knows. Maybe just lots of love. Whatever it is, you’d never think such a sweet old lady holds such a high place in the pantheon of guitar tone.
