Introducing Collectors Choice #19 1959 Les Paul Junior Double Cutaway, original serial #932517.  For those who don’t know, the Collector’s Choice series comes straight from the Gibson Custom Shop, where Gibson takes a great vintage guitar—whether it be celebrity owned or a rare, all-original piece—and through the marvels of modern technology, create a limited run of a near-exact recreation of that instrument.

Very few black Les Paul Junior Double Cutaways were made in 1959 and even fewer exist today. Collector’s Choice #19 is the first Les Paul Junior to be offered in the series and is based on one of the finest of its kind we’ve seen. It breaths that undeniable P-90 tone and embodies the trademark feel and Spartan aesthetic that emerged from Gibson’s intent to offer an entry level model that delivered uncompromised tone and feel.

Recent years have seen prices for vintage Juniors climb significantly. Much of that increase in popularity comes from Generation X-ers who remember many of their guitar heroes adopt the stripped-down-yet-100% Les Paul in the late 1970’s and 1980’s. The Junior became a mainstay in the punk and alt-rock movements as much as it played a part in the earlier blues and rock scenes. Collector’s Choice #19 represents a once-in-our lifetime run that we expect to move through retail quickly based on the low cost of entry for a Collector’s Choice model and the growing affection for this previously overlooked vintage Gibson gem.
Collector’s Choice #19, original serial # 932517 is hand-aged to match the wear and patina of its original counterpart, is approved by its current owner, and offered in a limited run of up to 300. Scroll below to view photos and specs!
